• this website’s “haha you just need to pick up a physical hobby/work a manual job and then you will be happy/healthy/normal” type posting is so baldly ableist in its presumptions about the value of specific bodies and bodily abilities it’s like genuinely startling to me every time i see it. channelling the workhouse and/or asylum but make it a discourse of individual empowerment

  • really fascinating how many people are in the tags of this post trying to rewrite it as though i said that exercise is morally good physically necessary as long as yr not being excessive about it. i did not in fact say that. a) you are vastly overestimating the human body’s ‘need’ for exertion and then morally weighing such activity b) both ‘recreational exercise’ and physical labour can and do result in injury, illness, and disability c) there are many people who are not and never will be capable of participating in any of these forms of physical activity that you are trying to deem ‘healthy’ and ‘necessary’ and to prescribe to others d) regardless of any of the above it is actually not ever a moral failure for any person to decline to participate in physical activity of any kind for any reason. lmao

Luca Marinelli receives today the Monini Prize "Una Finestra sui Due Mondi" because he is the perfect interpreter of the free and cosmopolitan spirit with which Maestro Giancarlo Menotti created the Festival as "an island completely dedicated to the education of the spirit of today's youth... a corner where young artists can express themselves freely, freed from the commitment of political creeds, discharged from the worries of various aesthetic fashions and without impositions of autocratic directors."

    (Giancarlo Menotti, Spoleto Festival 1958).

  • happy summer to dykes in tank tops and basketball shorts, goths who's makeup is melting, little kids catching frogs and fireflies, guys who just bring their guitar everywhere now, 13 yr olds very obviously in their emo phase during a family vacation, gas station employees, old people sitting on porches, and dogs swimming at the beach

“We did say, we’re gonna give this year to each other. We all have our own things, and so carving out a whole year is a lot. I think that’s part of people’s interaction with the band — extreme presence and gratitude, which is what we also have. We’re all on the same page that this is an unexpected treat from life. … I think that’s part of why it’s good to feel present.” — BOYGENIUS
